Russian River Valley

14 mo's, 100% neutral French oak
18th of November 2015
2014 Heather Pinot Noir
The nose is fresh and perfumed. The fruits are red, cherry, pomegranate with a darker layer of black currants and blackberries. There is a lovely fresh earthy quality adding a nice layer of complexity with mushrooms and peppercorns. The mouth feel maintains a nice freshness while also presenting a creamy mid palate. Black berry and cherry are the predominant fruits with a nice black licorice finish.
The Bella Vigna vineyard is a very steep vineyard planted on top of a south west facing hill. The vineyard is in the cooler southern end of the Russian river valley appellation and is on Goldridge loam. The vineyard is equally planted to the 777 and Swan clones of Pinot Noir.
The two clones of pinot; 777 and Swan, were fermented in separate lots and rested for 14 days on skins. Both lots were pressed together into tank and left to settle. ML fermentation was started in tank and the juice was then racked off to barrel to finish. The wine was aged 14 mo's in 100% neutral french oak and bottled unfiltered and unfined.
