Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A beautiful perfumed violet invites you into this wine revealing layers of strawberries, blackcurrants and a background of pepper, tobacco and salted meat. The mouth feel is plush with a pleasant freshness. The violet floral tones help highlight both the darker and redder fruits and the star anise finish maintains a fresher finish.
Vineyard Notes
Our third vintage from this Russian River vineyard. The vineyard is always our last pick of the year due to it's foggy placement, which helps maintain a fresher and redder profile in the wine. The vineyard is planted to four different clones of Syrah, which adds complexity to the wine.
Winemaker Notes
The vineyard was harvested in mid October reflecting the warmer vintage and the juice was on the skins for 17 days during fermentation. The wine was pressed off to tank where the ML fermentation was started and then racked to 100% neutral barrels to complete the ML fermentation. The wine was left in barrels for 14 months and was not racked during ageing. It was bottled in mid December unfiltered and unfined.
Food Pairing Notes
Atoosa's syrah is our coolest climate style and so pairs very well with lighter foods. One of our favorite pairing dishes is to grill salmon with white pepper and herbes de Provence. The white pepper compliments the pepper in the wine and the herbes bring out more of the floral characteristics. Then all you need is a patio.
