2010 Judge Family Vineyard

93 pts from Wine Enthusiast

Also featured in 2013 Year's Best US Syrah by Wine and Spirits. The Judge Family vineyard is situated on Grange Road in the South western corner of Bennett valley.  This vineyard is always our last harvest of the year and in 2010 we had to wait until November to harvest, but the resulting wine has 13% alcohol, making this our most Northern Rhone styled wine to date

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Ruby purple color. Attractively elegant nose showing red currant and ripe red fruits mixed with boxwood. A lighter weighted palate accentuates the elegant side of this wine, with red fruit mixed with coffee, while the soft tannins coat the tongue and allow a long lingering finish. Truly a food wine and one that reminds us of St Joseph in the Northern Rhone.

Winemaker Notes
The last harvest of 2010, we were lucky to get the fruit into the winery on the 6th of November. The fruit was destemmed and fermentation took 12 days. The must was pressed into tank where ML fermentation started and was then transferred into barrels where it aged for about 12 months on 100% French oak of which 20% new.
Food Pairing Notes
Salmon/Halibut
