2011 Stagecoach Vineyard

91 pts from Wine Enthusiast
The world famous Stagecoach vineyard in Napa Valley needs no introduction.  Known for it's extreme geology, at 1600ft above the Napa Valley, and meticulous vineyard management,  the resulting fruit imparts wonderful color and extraction into the wine.  The wine is our deepest and darkest of the 2011 vintage, but always maintains freshness and balance due to it's cooler growing season.  Enjoy alone on a porch with a view and your thoughts.

Winemaker Notes
Stagecoach was harvested on the 24th of October 2011. The cooler vintage allowed us to pick this warmer vineyard a little later allowing flavor development, whilst the sugars were 25.5 brix. The fruit was de-stemmed and left to cold soak on skins for 4 days, at which stage the native yeasts started fermentation. The fermentation lasted 12 days and the must was punched down manually twice a day. The must was then pressed to tank where the ML fermentation started. The wine was then racked out of tank to finish ML fermentation in barrel and was aged in French oak for about 14 mo’s with 20% new oak.
